Custom Field Properties

1. The Field Name CANNOT contain any spaces or hyphens; Only spaceless words or underscores are acceptable.
   • Limit 50 characters
   • Incorrect Examples: My Name or My-Name
   • Correct Examples: MyName or My_Name
2. Display Name is how the Field will appear to Users - Limit 100 characters & it may contain spaces
3. Notes can be added, which may be helpful to End Users

1. Type refers to the possible programming language responses to data types.

   NOTE: when Editing an existing custom field, you cannot change its Type

   

2. There are additional properties you can give a Custom Field, such as:
   1. Assign the Custom Field a Default Value
   2. Give the field a Validator such as, "Email must have "@" separating the name and domain"
   3. Allow to Search
   4. Add to Basic Search
   5. Assign a Sort Order
3. Lastly, give the Custom Field Group Permissions. There are three options for each Group
   1. View
   2. Edit
   3. Add
